Sorry I missed a post yesterday, I slept right through it! I'll post a couple times today to make up for it.
First things first, last night (as in, before I went to bed and slept right through March 7th) I finally sat my ass down and finished up the Mages Guild questline in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I kind of cheated, as I never really used a spell. And since it's the MAGES guild, I probably should have. But I noticed early on that a stealth arrow to the face will kill any mage a lot quicker and quieter than a spell would.
So I trudged sneakily through all the dungeons in the questline, arrow knocked on my Perfect Madness Bow as I sniped each and every Necromancer that dared glow purple with life essence. It was a lot of fun watching enemies 120ft away, glowing purple because of the "Detect Life 120ft" enchantment on my Gray Fox Cowl slump over as the purple glow left their now lifeless corpse. One shot, one kill. My aim amazed even myself as I went to collect my arrows from the corpse. Oftentimes the arrow would be stuck between the eyes, or on the left side of their torso, straight through the heart.
The only time I did cast a spell was when those damn Gloom Wraiths appeared. Bastards are immune to physical force so the only thing that could take them out was a spell, or an enchanted weapon. Since I never bothered to enchant my bow, I fired off the spell the guild gave me when I reached the Wizard rank. Took a few seconds to kill them, but it always did so within one shot.
Thanks to finally getting that guild finished I'm finally the head of every faction in the game. I'm probably the first Arch-Mage in Cyrodiil's history to get there wearing heavy armor and brandishing a sword as opposed to robes and a staff. But whatever works.
